Feadship Fleet celebrates launch in Monaco

Officially founded in April 2013, the Feadship Heritage Fleet has celebrated its first public event with a gathering during the Monaco Classic Week. This specially organised event attracted members keen to play an active part in this association for owners of Feadships that are more than thirty years old.

“There can surely be no more appropriate venue to mark the successful foundation of the Feadship Heritage Fleet than during the Monaco Classic Week at the Monaco Yacht Club,” comments Victor Muller, chairman of the association and one of the founder members along with fellow Feadship owners Arthur van Berge Henegouwen and Rory Brooks, and secretary general Theo Hooning. “Since we formally set up the association five months ago our membership has grown well and the board felt that the time was ripe to celebrate this fact together.”

As well as a range of social happenings linked to the Monaco Classic Week, an official global launch event was held on Quai Rainier III on the evening of Thursday 12 September. The new Feadship Heritage Fleet emblem was unveiled on two of the Feadships present, Heavenly Daze and Serena. Victor Muller welcomed the good number of owners and captains present and outlined the goals of the association in the years ahead. After a cocktail reception, a Feadship Heritage Fleet launch dinner was held in the Monaco Yacht Club. A number of Feadship directors flew to Monaco from the Netherlands especially for the occasion, highlighting the strong support given to the association by the Feadship board.

“We are excited by the number of members who have already joined the Feadship Heritage Fleet,” adds Muller. “It is clear that the association is meeting a significant demand among the owners of classic Feadship yachts. As each custom Feadship raises the bar a little further in terms of innovation, the superyachts built in the past could fade from memory. And yet, there are scores of beautiful Feadships more than thirty years old still cruising the world’s oceans today. We are now able to support their owners in a more structured way.”

In addition to uniting owners, the association’s objectives are to promote the continuance of the sailing Feadship heritage, organise events for its members and offer them services related to their yachts, many of which have been superbly maintained by their owners. The Feadship Heritage Fleet will be a vehicle by which owners can share their passion for Feadship’s maritime past with like-minded individuals.
